SEIU Virginia State Council Endorses Jay Jones for Attorney General

Council representing 22,000 frontline union members of SEIU 32BJ and SEIU Virginia 512 join Jones’ historic campaign on behalf of Virginia families

Norfolk, VA — Today, the SEIU Virginia State Council, SEIU 32BJ, and SEIU Virginia 512 endorsed Jay Jones for Attorney General.

“SEIU members were inspired by Jay Jones’ support of collective bargaining for all and worker retention policies to ensure low wage contracted workers don’t lose their jobs through no fault of their own when a contract changes hands,” said Jaime Contreras, Chair of the SEIU Virginia State Council. “Jones has always fought for the rights of working people, and we need a leader like him who’s committed to enforcing labor rights and protections and will hold bad employers accountable on wage theft. That’s why SEIU members — the frontline janitors, home care workers, security officers, city and county workers, and airport workers who make our communities thrive — are proud to endorse his campaign for Attorney General.”

“I’m proud to have the support of the SEIU Virginia State Council,” said Jay Jones. “Virginia workers deserve an Attorney General who always has their back. It’s the right thing to do for our families and our communities. I look forward to standing with them to fight for public safety, against corporate price gouging, and in making Virginia a Commonwealth a great place for working families.”

The SEIU Virginia State Council unites the more than 22,000 frontline union members of SEIU 32BJ and SEIU Virginia 512 to fight for good union jobs and economic, racial, and immigrant justice for all working people across the Commonwealth. Click here for the SEIU Virginia State Council website.
