Norfolk, VA — Jay Jones, Democratic nominee for Attorney General in Virginia, released the following statement in response to the U.S. Supreme Court decision Trump v. CASA:
“First and foremost, this ruling is a direct threat to birthright citizenship – a core Constitutional right – and what it means to be American.
“And by gutting nationwide injunctions, Trump v. CASA creates two tiers of justice—your rights now may depend on where you live and if your leaders are willing to fight for you. That makes state Attorneys General more important than ever.
“As AG, I’ll fight like hell to protect every Virginian. But my opponent in this race won’t. MAGA Jason Miyares has put party loyalty first and allowed Trump to harm Virginians – again and again. He would rather be Trump’s pro-bono attorney than fight for the people of Virginia.”
