| Norfolk, VA – Today, Jay Jones, Democratic nominee for Attorney General in Virginia, released the following statement in response to Republicans passing their disastrous budget bill:
“Today’s passage of the Republican Budget is a complete betrayal of Virginia families – and Jason Miyares is complicit.
“Miyares fought against improving access to quality, affordable healthcare for Virginians – including opposing Medicaid expansion and attempting to pass the same schemes MAGA Republicans in Washington are using right now to gut Medicaid. Now, as Republicans gut healthcare from more than 302,000 people across the Commonwealth and put five rural hospitals at risk of shutting their doors – all to pay for tax cuts for big corporations and MAGA donors – Miyares will do nothing to help Virginia’s working families.
“We need an Attorney General who will stand up for all Virginians, not sit on the sidelines while MAGA billionaires profit off of the biggest cuts to Medicaid in history. As Delegate, I was proud to expand Medicaid coverage to over 400,000 Virginians, and as Attorney General, I’ll work to strengthen Medicaid, protect Virginians from price gouging, and defend against MAGA politicians’ attacks on our fundamental rights and freedoms.” |
