Del. Jay Jones Raises Over $255,000 in First 2020 Finance Report
Delegate Jay Jones (D-Norfolk) raised over $255,000 in the first financial reporting period of 2020. Since announcing that he is exploring a bid for Attorney General in 2021, Delegate Jones received strong financial support from all across the Commonwealth and has more than $330,000 in cash on hand as of June 30, 2020.
“Over the last several months, I have been fortunate enough to speak with citizens from every corner of the Commonwealth, from Southwest Virginia to Northern Virginia and Central Virginia to Hampton Roads, about running for Attorney General and what their priorities are as we face several challenges – from a public health crisis to justice reform – on our shared Virginia journey,” said Delegate Jones. “I believe the common thread that unites all Virginians is a desire for action and leaders who will face this moment with fresh ideas and a deep passion for real, meaningful changes within our system.”
In 2019, Delegate Jones was part of the effort to take back the majorities in the Virginia General Assembly. He contributed over $85,000 to House and Senate candidates which allowed Virginia to pass sweeping, progressive changes including criminal justice reform and common sense gun safety legislation, much of which went into effect last week.
Delegate Jones currently represents the 89th District in the Virginia House of Delegates after being elected in 2017.
